Education:

Laura Furneaux is a graduate of the Dalhousie University Bachelor of Science Kinesiology program. After working several years as a kinesiologist, she pursued a degree in physiotherapy. Laura completed her Masters of Physiotherapy Studies at the University of Queensland, Australia in 2014. Since graduation, Laura has completed orthopaedic and sport-related courses.

Experience:

Laura has been working as a physiotherapist since November 2015. Before becoming a physiotherapist, she worked as a Kinesiologist in various settings.

Clinical Approach:

Laura believes that there is great value in working together with the patient to help them get back to what’s important in their life.  She collaborates with the patient to create an individualized treatment plan and combines education, hands- on techniques and home exercise program.

Fun Facts:

Laura grew up in Waverley, Nova Scotia in a sport-loving family.  She competed nationally in artistic gymnastics and internationally on the national sprint canoe kayak team.  After her athletic career, she changed gears and had the opportunity to study physiotherapy in Brisbane, Australia to complete her studies.  Her fondest memories of her time in Australia are snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, exploring and meeting new friends.  She is happy to be living closer to family and enjoys being active in all seasons.  She enjoys skiing, hiking, trail running, kayaking, biking and the occasional handstand.
