What To Expect When You See A Dietitian

Your First Visit

Your first appointment will be about an hour long.  Lorie will talk to you about why you have been referred or have chosen to see a registered dietitian.

Lorie will ask you about the types and amounts of foods you eat. In preparation for the visit you should try to write down everything you eat and drink for 3-4 days before your appointment and bring that list  with you to the appointment – be honest about your current eating habits.  Choosing to see a registered dietitian is a clear indication that you recognize your need to make some changes, Lorie is here to support not judge, her job is to be your guide and help you find your way to a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Lorie will give you some practical advice on what to eat, the best cooking methods, tricks when grocery shopping, nutritional choices, how to choose healthy options when in restaurants or at social events and where to get the foods you need.

Questions are welcomed anytime throughout the visit.

This personalized approach should make the process of changing your diet more achievable- and therefore more successful for you.

After your initial visit you may return for further support and guidance – follow-up appointments are usually scheduled in half hour blocks.
