Gregg Bandy

Physiotherapist

Growing up in Moncton, New Brunswick, Gregg could be found at the hockey rink, squash court, baseball diamond, or golf course, and not much has changed since!

His participation in competitive youth sports guided his decision to get involved in a career that encompassed several of his key interests – meeting and connecting
with new people, being involved in organized sports, and enjoying physical activity.
In 2015, Gregg completed a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics at St. Francis Xavier University and graduated from Dalhousie University with a Master of Science in Physiotherapy in 2017.

Since graduating, Gregg has completed post-graduate courses in Biomedical Dry Needling and the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy for low back pain management.Gregg believes in an active approach to rehabilitation that starts with developing functional goals that are specific to each individual patient. He strives to empower his patients to take control of their own situations through education and exercise and develops a tailored plan that best suits their needs, goals, and lifestyle.

At physiotherapy appointments, Gregg incorporates a variety of treatments including on-going education about the patient’s injury, exercise progressions, joint mobilizations and soft tissue massage techniques. He is also experienced in dry needling and is open to exploring other treatment techniques with the collaboration of his patients.

Sean Buckley
Physiotherapist / Clinic Owner

Sean was a busy child which led his parents to focus his energy sports and recreation.  He grew up in a small town in New Brunswick which allowed him the opportunity to participate in many sports both team and individual.

At 18 years of age, Sean suffered a knee injury which grew his personal interest in the rehabilitation field.  His concentration seemed to gravitate to anatomy and physiology which lead him to enroll into Kinesiology at UNB. While at UNB he continued his love of hockey and played defence for the UNB Men's Hockey Team. After personally attending Physiotherapy for his knee concern, he decided to pursue this as his career.  He was accepted into the Physiotherapy School at Dalhousie University and graduated in 2000.

Sean’s personal patient experience with Physiotherapy showed him the sense of accomplishment you reach when you focus on goal and work hard.  Over his career as a Physiotherapist, Sean tries to connect this feeling to his patients to return them to their goals.  The point when the patient reaches their personal goal is what drives his day. After the assessment, Sean collaborates with his patient to make a plan to reach the patient’s goals.  He takes time to educate them on their concern.  He teaches them on how they can help themselves with exercises and modifying activities (do’s and don’ts). Sean’s sessions consist of a variety of hands on techniques involving mobilizations and manipulations of muscles and joints.  If the patient is willing and appropriate, dry needling can be trialed.

Sean still enjoys an active lifestyle with general strength and conditioning exercises.  He continues to enjoy coaching and playing hockey, golf, skiing, snowboarding  and cottage life.  His wife and two daughters keep his experiences rounded and adventurous.

Andrea Halley

Massage Therapist

Diploma in Massage Therapy

Bachelor of Science Degree (Health Education)

Education:

Andrea received her Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University in 1996 before pursuing a career in Massage Therapy.  She had a friend who was enrolled in massage therapy school and after chatting about this fairly new field of work, Andrea signed up.  She like that it combined aspects of several health professions and was inspired by both her paternal grandparents. Her grandparents were both nurses in the mental health sector so Andrea grew up hearing about the helping and healing professions. She loves getting to know her patients, their families, successes and failures and that on some level helps her patients navigate life's ups and downs.   She was a honours graduate from Northumberland College in Halifax in 1999.  Andrea has since completed many postgraduate courses including those in myofascial release, deep tissue therapy, cupping and most recently, Foundations in Acupuncture (250 hours) from The College of Acupuncture and Therapeutics.

Andrea enjoys tailoring each treatment to meet her clients' specific needs.  She is excited to be able to integrate acupuncture into her treatments for those clients who would benefit from it.  Her many years of clinical experience allow her to identify and treat issues to help her clients feel their best.  She lives in our local community and loves spending time with her husband and son.

Anna Hallyburton

Massage Therapist

Anna grew up in small town New Brunswick, where her predilection for both cerebral and physical activities meant that voracious reading, sports and taking apart household items to see

what made them work occupied equal parts of her time. While academic pursuits were satisfied at university, it was her subsequent travel in Southeast Asia that kindled Anna’s interest in the hands-on world of therapeutic massage. Having gotten a chance to experience the benefits of body work through Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese massage, Anna was soon planning her return to Canada to study Swedish Massage. After being accepted to Grant MacEwan University’s Massage Therapy program in Edmonton, Anna graduated with honours in 2008.

Since then, Anna has enjoyed working with patients to solve the wonderful puzzle that is the human body. She has worked as a Registered Massage Therapist in chiropractic, physiotherapy
and massage therapy clinics in Edmonton, Halifax and Rothesay. In January, 2013 Anna moved to Dartmouth to accept the opportunity to practice at the Waverley Road Physiotherapy and
Health Care Centre.
Initial massage therapy treatments begin with an assessment. A plan of action is then discussed with the patient to address expectations for treatment outcomes as well as a timeline for any
future treatments that may be required. Anna integrates a variety of treatment techniques including deep tissue massage, muscle energy techniques, proprioceptive reconditioning, Cranio Sacral Therapy and Myofascial Release. Sessions also include information on personalized self-care and prevention techniques at home. If indicated, there will also be the opportunity to collaborate with the on-site physiotherapists for a more comprehensive treatment approach.

Today Anna continues to keep busy with cycling, camping, yoga and learning home DIY skills, while still trying to squeeze in some good books. It was a delight to discover that a strong
francophone community exists in the Waverley area, affording the opportunity to conduct some sessions in French.

Bachelor of Arts degree with honours from McGill University in 2002

Mike Prowse

Massage Therapist

As a child Michael could not sit still. Active in sports (soccer, basketball and volleyball), scouts and pretty much anything that kept him outside. He grew up in Dartmouth, NS, where he still loves and lives. Around his tenth birthday he suffered from a fall, which broke his neck, collar bone and dislocated his shoulder. The rehabilitation took a while. He got to see many different types of specialists and became interested in healing/rehabilitating people with his hands.

After graduating high school, Michael pursued a career in diving. First as a scuba instructor on a resort in Borneo, then as a commercial diver in Halifax and finally as a saturation diver/diver medic internationally. Mike suffered another back injury , requiring more rehabilitation, and giving him time to reevaluated his career path. His pursuit of massage therapy began.

As a Therapist he tries to build a rehabilitation plan that works for his patients at the ability level they’re at and work from there. He gains their starting point by completing a thorough initial assessment at the  beginning of each treatment.  Throughout the session he gathers more information on the patient's issue and may often prescribe some home-care stretches and or exercises. He  likes to use a combination of general Swedish massage, myofascial and therapeutic techniques to address your muscle and soft tissue complaints/injuries.

Michael still likes to stay active mainly with strength and conditioning exercises, as well as hiking, and on rare occasions still enjoys recreational diving.
